Back to the Future

Back to the Future

The very first radio. The one that started it all. The one that sold. This little gem made us think that there might be other people out there who shared a passion for the almost forgotten sound of a vintage valve. All those redundant radios and record players just gathering dust could now be ours. We had an excuse to seek them out, buy them up and restore them to their former glory. By adding a bit of 21st Century wizardry, they now not only looked good but also played music from a computer, iPod or MP3. This one was carefully parcelled up and shipped out, all the way to Brooklyn.

Love it! There’s just something about an old radio…

Thank you. We think so and glad you agree. I’ve just spent the last two hours stripping a radio cabinet, so I need some encouragement.

I think a lot of people would agree! We have a few dusty old radios that we’re repairing, one large, a few countertop. And a couple of old Edwardian and Jazz Age Victrola’s (not radios, but play with such lovely sound). 🙂

Would love to see them. They’re all so different.

Once we start getting them fixed (and out of the carriage house!), will definitely post some photos. 🙂
